INSIGHTS | This modern figure series is one I like to call, “In the Pink”. I named them this because it reminded me of doing something for the first time. These pieces represent several firsts. The shade of the very first lipstick I work in Jr. High was Revlon’s, “In The Pink”. I will never forget that shade pink lipstick and how grown up it made me feel.
This series was also the first time I worked on a larger scale. Choosing a canvas size that stands as tall as me was a little nerve racking. So, of course, I decided to start three of them.
The color pallet I chose was a first in that I had primarily been working in black & white or gray tones. This time I wanted to brighten up the scheme with pinks and purples.
Pinks and purples were always colors that made me smile.
